Plans for South Hall Renovation Moving Ahead

POTTSTOWN PA – Plans to renovate the first floor of South Hall at the Pottstown campus of Montgomery County Community College, 101 College Dr., introduced during late 2019 but delayed by the pandemic, are moving ahead with contractors submitting bid proposals for the project. They’re due to the college by no later than Monday (Oct. 18, 2021), according to legal advertisements published on its behalf.

The college Facilities Master Plan calls for re-design and re-use of parts of the hall “to make it more attractive and functional,” at an estimated cost of more than $4 million. It is anticipated to includes a café and retail store, additional classroom, improved lounge space, room to support “integrated enrollment services,” additional student club space, and new finishes.

The building was erected in 1996. The state Department of Education and the college are sharing the renovation cost. Bids are being sought for a general contractor, as well as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical work.
