More Overnight Closures Planned Next Week on 422

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – East- and westbound U.S. Route 422 will be closed and detoured weeknights from Wednesday (Oct. 20, 2021) through Oct. 29 (Friday) from midnight to 5 a.m., between its Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga interchanges, for continuing demolition work to replace the South Park Road bridge over the expressway in Lower Pottsgrove, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

During the overnight closures, eastbound 422 driverss will be directed to use Armand Hammer Boulevard and High Street to access the expressway at Rupert Road. Westbound drivers will be directed to exit at the Sanatoga interchange and use High Street and Armand Hammer Boulevard to access the expressway.

Replacement of the South Park Road bridge, and earlier of the South Pleasant View Road bridge, over 422 is being done ahead of starting the project to reconstruct 422 between the Sanatoga interchange and Porter Road.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area. Backups and delays will occur, PennDOT warned. All scheduled activities are depend on acceptable weather. H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the $7.1 million project, which is expected to finish in late 2022.
