Vecchio to Take Pottsgrove Oath of Office Tuesday
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Lower Pottsgrove resident and volunteer Joe Vecchio, who is an unopposed candidate for a vacant seat on the Pottsgrove Board of School Directors during next week’s general election, is scheduled to be temporarily be sworn in to serve in that same position during Tuesday’s (Oct. 26, 2021) school board meeting.
The seat was vacated last month by former board President Robert Lindgren, whose job took him out of the district. Remaining board members decided to publicly call for candidates to fill the vacancy, even for less than a handful of meetings, rather than leave it empty through Nov. 30 when Lindgren’s term expires.
Vecchio, who said he wanted to “get a head start” on what he hopes will be his future elected position, offered the only submission. New board President Al Leach, who was chosen by his colleagues to succeed Lindgren, will administer Vecchio’s oath of office, and he’ll begin work immediately Tuesday as a board member.
The board meeting is free to attend and open to the public. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in the large group instruction room at Pottsgrove High School on Kauffman Road. Masks are required for those who attend in person. A copy of the board agenda is available for download from the district website, here.
