Dinner-Show Combination Returns to Collegeville
COLLEGEVILLE PA – Ursinus College’s Theater and Dance Department has again joined the Collegeville Economic Development Corp. to offer a Dinner And A Show promotion featuring “Pride and Prejudice,” a play based on the novel by Jane Austen.
“In the show, Mrs. Bennet is determined to see her four daughters married, but Lizzy is equally determined never to marry, Jane may lack the fortune necessary to follow her heart, Lydia’s taste in men leaves a lot to be desired, and Mary … what’s up with Mary?,” according to its description. “Kate Hamill’s affectionate, fast-paced adaptation re-imagines Jane Austen’s beloved classic as a screwball comedy sure to delight audiences,” it added.
The show is directed by college Associate Professor of Theater Meghan Brodie, and is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday (Oct. 28-30, 2021) at 7:30 p.m., with matinees Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 30 and 31) at 2 p.m., all in the Blackbox Studio Theater at the college’s Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center, 601 E. Main St.
Tickets for all shows are $8 general admission and $5 for seniors, students and Ursinus faculty, and staff. Buy your tickets at Ursinus’ online box office, or by calling the box office at 610-409-3030. To ensure safety, all audience members must remain masked throughout the performance, regardless of vaccination status.
About your dinner
Although it’s not necessary to participate in the dinner to attend the show, it may be rewarding, the development corporation noted. Participating restaurants are offering dinner specials to customers attending the performances.
When individuals buy their tickets, they are issued a receipt to show at participating restaurants on the day of the performance and get the dinner special. Advance reservations are encouraged. For Sunday afternoon matinees, the specials are available for either lunch or dinner. Individuals also must present their receipt at the Ursinus College box office to pick up their tickets. Theatergoers should arrive at the box office at least 15 minutes before the show begins.
Participating restaurants include Aavya Fine Indian Cuisine, Bonjung Japanese Restaurant, China Jade, CHOW Bistro, Copperfield Inn, Collegeville Diner, Forno Antico, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, Marzella’s Pizza, My Friends Tavern, Osteria, Rocco’s Brick Oven Pizzeria, Thai Basil Bistro, The Pizza Stop, Tortugas Mexican Eatery, The Trappe Tavern, Troubles End Brewing, and WIBS Wings, Ribs, and More.
