Township's New Chief Takes His Oath of Office

SWORN IN THURSDAY – Lower Pottsgrove Police Chief Richard “Rick” Bell took his oath of office Thursday (Nov. 4, 2021), with his family members at his side and holding a copy of the Bible, in front of a large audience during the township Board of Commissioners’ meeting at The Sunnybrook Ballroom on North Sunnybrook Road. Before the oath was administered by Magisterial District Justice Edward C. Kropp Sr., commissioners officially and unanimously appointed Bell as the department’s chief effective Monday (Nov. 8), although he is expected to be at the Buchert Road municipal building for short periods before then. Following the oath commissioners promptly welcomed Bell, offered him their best wishes, and guided him to the chief’s customary seat at the board table.
