Zoning Board Schedules Industrial Building Review

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A proposed expansion of the Bassett Industries Inc. facility at 2119 Sanatoga Station Rd., in a Lower Pottsgrove light industrial zoning district, will be the subject of a public hearing scheduled by the township Zoning Hearing Board. It’s set for Nov. 16 (2021; Tuesday) at 6 p.m. in the township municipal building, 2199 Buchert Rd.

The company hopes to add a 25,000-square-foot addition to its existing 79,368-square-foot building to accommodate new equipment to coat metal tubing and piping manufactured on the site. It requires a zoning variance because the addition is roughly 6-percent larger than permitted for a non-conforming use in the district.

The township’s Planning Commission reviewed company plans for the project during August, and forwarded its recommendation for approval to the township Board of Commissioners. Planners also approved a list of waivers sought by Bassett that the township’s engineering said were considered “routine.”

One of the project’s significant installations, viewed favorably by township planners and engineer Craig Bonenberger, involves a modern, environmentally efficient storm water handling system.

During Thursday’s (Nov. 4) Board of Commissioners’ meeting, at which members were notified of the coming hearing, Manager Ed Wagner praised company President David Milks for help he’s provided to planners and the township staff in the review process.

The hearing is free to attend and open to the public. Parking is available at the township building.
