Pottsgrove Schools Recognized for Behavior Support
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – All three elementary schools in the Pottsgrove School District – Lower Pottsgrove, West Pottsgrove, and Ringing Rocks – have been recognized by the Washington DC-based Center on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) for their continued use of its programs to reduce disciplinary problems, anti-social behavior, and substance misuse.
The district won acknowledgment from the organization’s Pennsylvania network for results that include improving academic engagement and achievement, reducing bullying and victimization, improving school climate, and reducing teacher turnover, the district reported Friday (Nov. 12, 2021).
PBIS programs seek to prompt, model, practice, and encourage positive expected social skills for students and with others. As a result, “school climates are described as more positive, learning environments are designated as safer, and student-educator relationships are referred to as more trusting and respectful,” the network said.
