Genesis Changes Local Healthcare Business Models

SANATOGA PA – Genesis Healthcare Inc. – the post-acute care company that operates the Sanatoga Center skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility and Sanatoga Court senior independent living community (at top) in Sanatoga, and the Pennsburg Manor skilled nursing facility in Pennsburg – is changing some of its operating policies nationwide and also has shuffled its corporate management team, it said.

Genesis is switching to what it calls “a market-focused model” of vertical integration, using central resources and market-specific teams to better serve residents and patients and drive improvements, Executive Board Chairman David Harrington said. The changes are part of his turnaround plan for the company’s future.

The company also appointed three new corporate executives: Melissa Powell as its chief operating officer; Orrin Feingold, chief financial officer; and Michael Sherman, chief legal officer. They are tasked with “rapid implementation” of the model and “a 100-day plan to grow revenue, reduce costs, and streamline decision-making … while providing the highest-quality care and experience for residents and patients,” Harrington said.

Genesis is a holding company with subsidiaries offer services to a combination of more than 250 skilled nursing facilities and assisted or senior living communities in 23 states.
