Troopers Allege Truck Driver Left Crash Scene

UPPER SALFORD PA – A 35-year-old Perkiomenville man who was said to be driving a pick-up truck Sunday (Nov. 14, 2021) at 2:19 a.m. on Thompson Road in Upper Salford Township allegedly crashed into a telephone pole near the intersection of Moyer Road, escaped the vehicle, and then fled the scene, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Investigators said no injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved. It’s unknown in what direction the man left the site following the accident, a Tuesday (Nov. 16) public information release from the Troop K Barracks in Skippack stated.

Troopers apparently caught up with him, though, the release indicated. They said he now faces “multiple traffic citations related to the hit-and-run crash.” Charges include driving at an unsafe speed, it added.

Troopers said the man’s 2019-model Ram 1500 truck was traveling northbound on Thompson “when, for unknown reasons, (he) lost control and struck a telephone pole on the right side of Moyer” with the truck’s “entire front.”

The truck was removed from the scene by William Penn Towing of Green Lane.
