Stolen: Cash in Skippack, Car Part in Red Hill

SKIPPACK PA – Two separate and unrelated thefts affecting area businesses are being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police at the Troop K Barracks in Skippack, they reported in public information releases distributed Thursday (Nov. 18, 2021). Anyone with information on either can call the barracks at 610-584-1250.

Currency theft in Skippack

An amount of currency was stolen sometime between Tuesday (Nov. 16, 2021) at 10 p.m. and Wednesday (Nov. 17) at 5 a.m. from a lock box at an unspecified location on Skippack Pike in Skippack Township, troopers said.

A suspect, whom troopers did not identify, gained access to the lock box owned by Jermacans Style Inc. of Schwenksville. The total value of the currency was unknown when the report was taken, troopers added. The damaged box itself was valued at $30.

Vehicle part theft in Red Hill

The theft of a catalytic converter from a 2020 Nissan owned by Anthony & Sylvan Pools of Doylestown occurred Nov. 10 (Wednesday) during overnight hours in the 800 block of Carrington Drive in Red Hill Borough, troopers also reported.

Catalytic converters, which are part of many vehicles’ exhaust systems, contain precious metals that include rhodium, palladium, and platinum. The value of those metals brings a high return in the scrap market. The troopers’ report did not place a value on the stolen part.
