Birdsboro Rescuers Join ‘Empty The Shelters’ Event

BIRDSBORO PA – The Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd., will be a participant in an “Empty the Shelters – Holiday Hope” event, underwritten by the Bissell Pet Foundation, to offer reduced-fee pet adoptions from Dec. 6-20 (2021), the foundation announced.

“Shelters across the country are crowded and in desperate need of support, due to slowed adoptions and longer stays for homeless pets,” the foundation reported. The fee reductions are an attempt to “ensure pets get a chance to go from shelter kennels to the cozy couches of loving homes,” it added. More than 67,500 pets have been adopted nationwide since 2016 as a result of similar events.

More than 230 shelters in 41 states and Canada are participating this year.

Because shelter requirements vary by location, the foundation suggests prospective pet parents contact the shelter directly to complete an adoption application and to learn more about its adoption process. Call the Animal Rescue League at 610-373-8830, or send an e-mail to info@berksarl.org.
