Pottsgrove School Board Moves Up Meeting Date

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – The only December meeting date planned for the Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors has changed, the district confirmed Monday afternoon (Nov. 29, 2021). The change was tentatively reported by board President Al Leach in social media posts during the Thanksgiving weekend, but it was not deemed official until the district’s announcement.

The board’s initially scheduled Dec. 7 meetings – two will be held consecutively during the same night: its reorganization meeting, followed by its regular meeting – have moved up on the calendar to Dec. 2 (Thursday). They will be held live beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the large group instruction room of Pottsgrove High School, Kauffman Road, located closest to the school’s west side cafeteria entrance (at top).

The meetings are free to attend and open to the public. Their agendas were expected to be available Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 30) for download from the district website, here.

For those who prefer to watch the meetings at a distance rather than in person, the district also will provide a Zoom webinar for coverage. They can register in advance using this link provided by the district: https://zoom.us/s/99312997658?pwd=YTRNN0puZnJ1S0FuOE8zSUJ1RlliUT09. Registrants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

The PCTV Network also plans to cover the meeting with a simulcast on its YouTube channel, the district reported, but the weblink for it is not yet available. The Posts will update this story when the link is announced.

Leach said the rescheduling is necessary because the board must vote during a regular meeting to again modify the district Health and Safety Plan. To comply with state law the vote is required before Dec. 4, when Pennsylvania mask mandate revisions take effect.

During the earlier reorganization meeting, incoming or returning board members will take oaths of office, and board officers are expected to be elected for the new year.
