In North Coventry, A Wall Not Easily Toppled

AN UNSEEN WALL OF HAY – Because of the Route 724 West closure in North Coventry Township, due to bridge damage at Eckers Creek, many travelers haven’t seen the wall of hay recently harvested and erected at surrounding Laurel Locks Farm (at top and above). The roughly 15-foot high wall, made of hay bales harvested and stacked as secured blocks, stretches for dozens of feet on the property northeast from its historic machinery building toward the Coventry Parlor restaurant on Laurelwood Road. A few workers in view Wednesday (Dec. 15, 2021) seemed to be preparing the farm for the winter ahead.
