Univest Donation Benefits Open Hearth Renovations

PHOENIXVILLE PA – Open Hearth Inc., the Chester County non-profit that annually helps those in need of affordable housing, transportation, and financial management, has received a $25,000 from Univest Financial to help rehabilitate its new headquarters at 701 S. Main St. in Phoenixville.

Renovations at the property, offered to the organization as a gift in December 2020, began in June 2021 and are expected to be completed by early 2022. The Univest donation becomes part of Open Hearth’s $1 million capital fund campaign for the site, with more than $785,000 already raised.

The building is anticipated to serve as “a place of hope for our clients and partners as they are welcomed into a location that is both accessible and inspirational,” Open Hearth CEO Kelly Raggazino said. “This investment from Univest Financial will benefit the 800-plus clients” the non-profit works with each year, and will “reflect the high standards of service set by Open Hearth’s staff, funders, and collaborators,” she added.

“Open Hearth’s innovative approach to creating access to affordable housing and transportation, and, ultimately, helping people achieve financial stability, aligns with Univest’s 145-year history of serving the financial and philanthropic needs of the local community, its President and CEO Jeff Schweitzer noted. “We look forward to the great work that will come out of their new headquarters.”

The new property will provide easy access and parking, increased foot traffic, and proximity to many partner agencies. In the new building, staff will be located on one floor, with more meeting space and room to grow, the organization explained.
