‘Code Blue’ Emergency Declared Through Tuesday

NORRISTOWN PA – A “Code Blue” cold weather emergency warning has been declared by Montgomery County’s Board of Commissioners through Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2022) at 9 a.m., following National Weather Service forecasts that temperatures or wind chills during the period could reach 20 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. The declaration was issued Sunday (Jan. 2) at 10 p.m.

Code Blue warnings indicate winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter, the county said. Those in need of, or who see someone else in need of, emergency shelter for the duration should call the county “Your Way Home” call center at 2-1-1, or text their zip code to 898-211.

The county also suggests those with elderly friends or neighbors check on them frequently to ensure their homes are adequately heated.
