Collegeville Man Uninjured in Turnpike Hit-Run Crash
KING OF PRUSSIA PA – A 56-year-old Collegeville man escaped injury in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2022) on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The accident occurred at 3:06 a.m. on the Interstate 276 eastbound portion of the turnpike in Upper Dublin Township, according to State Police from the Troop T Barracks in King of Prussia.
Troopers said the Collegeville resident was driving a 2016-model Jeep Renegade east on the right lane of the highway, when an unidentified driver in an unknown vehicle attempted to pass in the center lane.
Investigators reported the passing vehicle was moving at a speed of about 80 miles per hour. As it did it veered into the right lane, striking the Jeep, they said. The Jeep crashed into the guard rail, and stopped there. The passing vehicle sped on, still eastbound.
The Jeep driver was wearing both lap and shoulder belts, troopers said, and did not require emergency medical services.
The unknown driver of the other vehicle, if located, faces charges, they added.
