1,500-Plus MontCo, Berks Properties Without Power Monday

POTTSTOWN PA – More than 1,500 properties across Berks and Montgomery counties were without electrical power Monday (Jan. 17, 2022) at around 9 a.m. as a result of the weekend winter storm, according to the utility tracking database PowerOutage.us. The outages represented less than 10 percent of the two counties’ total power customers, it said.

As of the same time, only three power outages were reported in Chester County.

In Montgomery County 40 customers served by First Energy, another 62 served by PECO, and 25 more who were PPL clients all were said to be without power.

The numbers were significantly higher north in Berks County, where incidences of snowfall and ice-coated power lines were more severe. All of the outages there, at total of 1,498, were attributable to First Energy, the database statistics show. PPL, which also serves more than 45,000 Berks customers, reported no outages.
