Two Applicants So Far for Pottsgrove Board Vacancy

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – The Monday (Jan. 24, 2022) deadline is looming for Pottsgrove School District residents who are interested in filling the existing vacancy on its school board. So far, two people have submitted the appropriate paperwork to qualify for interviews, district Director of Community Relations Gary DeRenzo reports.

The district has been advised a third may expected before time expires, he added.

The vacancy was created Jan. 11 (Tuesday) when six-year board member Bill Parker tendered his resignation, effective immediately. He is moving to new employment in Virginia. His unexpired term runs for another 22 months, through November 2023.

Those interested in being interviewed for the position by remaining board members, who have the legal authority to name Parker’s successor, must submit both a resume and an accompanying letter stating their “intent to become part of the school board,” the board stipulated. Those items must be received at the district by its 4:30 p.m. close of business.

Applications can be mailed, or delivered to the Kauffman Road district office in person, and should be addressed to Dr. David Finnerty – Superintendent of Schools, c/o Christina Breyer, Pottsgrove School District Office, 1301 Kauffman Rd., Pottstown PA 19464. Board member qualifications and other information about the opening are available on the district website, here.

On the following day, Jan. 25 (Tuesday), the Board of School Directors during its meeting will interview all qualified candidates. It then anticipates taking time to consider interviewee responses to members’ questions, with their decision on a potential appointment to be made during the board’s Feb. 8 (Tuesday) meeting.
