Upper Providence, Skippack Bridges Get Assistance
NORRISTOWN PA – Bridges on roads in Upper Providence and Skippack townships will benefit from financial assistance provided Thursday (Jan. 20, 2022) by Montgomery County commissioners for emergency repairs, engineering services, or both in the aftermath of last September’s destructive Tropical Storm Ida.
The county Board of Commissioners agreed to pay for engineering work and emergency repairs to the Arcola Road bridge over Skippack Creek in Upper Providence; and for engineering services for the Garges Road bridge over the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek in Skippack.
The repairs are part of a more than $263,000 contract commissioners sought by the county Department of Assets and Infrastructure with Loftus Construction Inc. of Cinnaminson NJ. The engineering work will be conducted as part of a more than $74,000 contract with Pennoni Associates Inc. of Philadelphia.
Similar needs of several other bridges beyond the county’s western half are included in both agreements.
