Three Local Schools Win State Safety Grants
HARRISBURG PA – Three Tri-County Area private schools – Pine Forge Academy in Pine Forge, Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford, and Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Schwenksville – are among more than 300 local education agencies statewide named as recipients of this year’s competitive Pennsylvania Safe Schools grants.
About $8 million is being distributed to public and private schools that applied for money to increase school safety by buying equipment, starting new programs, or hiring security personnel and school resource officers.
The trio of local schools with applications deemed worthy of consideration all won equipment grants. Pine Forge Academy and Pope John Paul II both will receive maximum grants of $25,000. Saint Mary’s will receive $20,269.
Governor Tom Wolf announced the recipients Friday (Jan. 21, 2022) during a press conference in Harrisburg. More than $40 million in Safe Schools grants has been awarded to agencies across the commonwealth since 2015.
