Woman Faces Forgery, Theft Charges in Skippack Incidents
SKIPPACK PA – A 26-year-old Norristown woman has been charged by Pennsylvania State Police with 27 separate felony offenses regarding alleged thefts that involved paychecks associated with Skippack-based metal fabricators The Chowns Group on Cressman Road.
Troopers from the Troop K Barracks said Friday (Jan. 28, 2022) the woman counterfeited or forged six differently numbered checks in nine incidents, and fraudulently re-deposited them with multiple banks. The total value of the deposits amounted to nearly $5,600, and ranged in individual amounts from $532.10 to $637.58. The thefts occurred during late December, according to their report.
Court records show the woman is charged with forgery by altering writing, a Class 2 felony, nine counts; theft of movable property by unlawful taking, a Class 3 felony, nine counts; and theft by deception in creating a false impression, also a Class 3 felony, nine counts. All were filed Jan. 27 (Thursday) in the Harleysville courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Albert J. Augustine.
She had been scheduled for a Thursday public hearing, but records indicate it has not yet been held.
