Spring City Man Arrested in Alleged Drug Possession
SKIPPACK PA – A Spring City resident was arrested for alleged drug-related activity, and a Reading woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated, in separate and unrelated incidents reported Wednesday (Feb. 10, 2022) by Pennsylvania State Police at the Troop K Barracks in Skippack.
Alleged drug possession
Troopers said they are continuing an investigation into their encounter Jan. 31 at 11:55 p.m. with a 65-year-old Spring City man at the intersection of Valley Forge and Defford roads in Worcester Township. He was driving a 2005-model Ford Mustang that appeared to be disabled on Valley Forge Road, they said, and stopped to provide assistance.
Apparently not all was as it seemed. An investigation led them to believe “there was criminal activity afoot,” their report stated.
Troopers obtained a search warrant, and conducted a search of the Mustang. Items found within the vehicle, they added, were a substance suspected to be heroin and drug paraphernalia. They have labeled the nature of the case as one of “drug possession,” and are awaiting developments.
Alleged DUI
A 55-year-old Reading woman was stopped Monday (Feb. 7) at 12:04 p.m. for vehicle code violations as she drove a 2009-model Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on U.S. Route 422 through Lower Pottsgrove Township, troopers reported.
During their investigation, they determined the woman was driving under the influence of a substance, and also was operating with a suspended license. She was taken into custody.
