Cars Damaged But No One Injured in 422 West Crash
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – No one was injured, Lower Pottsgrove police said, in a two-car accident that occurred Tuesday (Feb. 15, 2022) shortly before 11:45 a.m. on westbound U.S. Route 422 at mile marker 176.2, just west of the highway’s on-ramp at its Sanatoga interchange. Both cars were significantly damaged, and westbound drivers in the area were slowed by fire police as they passed the scene.

Police reported two Honda automobiles (above) – one black in color, carrying a mother and daughter; the other white, with an elderly female driver – were traveling west on 422 as the driver in the black vehicle reduced speed for a traffic slowdown ahead. The driver in the white vehicle did not see the slowdown, officers said, and hit the black vehicle at its rear.
The force of the impact turned the black vehicle around so that it faced east and came to rest near the center guard rail of the west lane, police said. The white vehicle came to rest just west of the black one, still facing west but also near the guard rail. Debris littered the highway for several feet in both directions, and vehicle fluids leaked across the westbound passing lane.
Responding to the accident were several Lower Pottsgrove police patrols, units of the Sanatoga and Ringing Hill fire companies, and Goodwill Ambulance. Westbound traffic was momentarily stopped at one point so first responders could be positioned near the crash. Emergency medical technicians attended at the scene to the elderly driver, who said she was experiencing foot pain, according to police.
