LEARNING MORE ABOUT WOMEN IN HISTORY – A new display of books for students at Elizabeth B. Barth and Franklin elementary schools in Pottstown (at top and above), created by library assistant Cory Derer, is helping them learn more about exceptional girls and women as they observe March (2022) as Women In History Month. The collection is intended to encourage reading on Amelia Earhart, Malala Yousafzai, Mae Jemison, Katherine Johnson, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Frida Kahlo, and others who helped mold society. “I hope our students gain insight into how these women have overcome unique challenges to secure careers in art, science, math, and law,” Derer said. “As a Girl Scout leader for over 15 years, I take pride in empowering girls to try new things, and become leaders themselves.”
