UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – Audience members at Thursday’s (March 17, 2022) performance of “Matilda Jr.,” this year’s Pottsgrove Middle School musical, laughed, hummed along, and applauded its players for their roles. Two more shows remain Friday and Saturday (March 18 and 19) starting at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for $10 per person.

The musical brings to life the popular book by Roald Dahl. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence, and special powers! She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly lovable Miss Honey. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however; the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules.

But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

The musical is directed and choreographed by Tom Yenchick, with music direction by Alyson Trout. Cast members include Lindsay Palmer as Matilda, Haley Harner as Miss Honey, Kelsey Renner as Agatha Trunchbull, Alesandro Ojeda as Mr. Wormwood, and Ava Fazekas as Mrs. Wormwood.
