Tractor-Trailer Blocked Township Road Friday
LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A jack-knifed tractor-trailer, with the trailer’s right rear wheels stuck in a ditch (at top, above, and below) on the northbound lane of North Pleasant View Road at its hilly curve west of Donna Lane in Lower Pottsgrove, blocked traffic in both directions Friday (March 25, 2022) at 9:50 a.m., Montgomery County emergency dispatchers reported.
Two township police patrols, Sanatoga Fire Company fire police, and Hawk’s Towing all responded to the call. They spent about 25 minutes separating the tractor from its trailer, then using an industrial tow truck to wrench the trailer free from the ditch and slowly guide it to the intersection of North Pleasant View and North Sanatoga Roads. There the two were re-attached, and the driver was on his way.
Getting the wedged tires out of the shoulder-side crevasse required the towing team to provide a more stable and flat surface beneath the wheels. That was accomplished with a series of 4-inch-by-4-inch sections of posts (at left).
In the interim, southbound traffic on Pleasant View was directed down Sanatoga Road toward East High Street (below), and northbound traffic was turned-around and re-directed toward Sanatoga Road.
