Volunteers Ready for Electronics Recycling Saturday

UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – Saturday (April 2, 2022) represents a big day for student volunteers at the non-profit GreenAllies organization, which operates Althouse Arboretum in Upper Pottsgrove. They’re expecting a large response to their annual electronics recycling event, being held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the parking lot of Pottsgrove Middle School, 1351 N. Hanover St.

The event is open to public drop-offs for a per-vehicle-donation of $10, but additional fees will be charged for some televisions. This year’s event also features a paper-shredding station. Those who attend are encouraged to bring up to three file-sized boxes or paper bags filled with documents to be shredded and recycled.

Electronics being accepted computer towers, laptop computers, tablets, servers, printers, flat screen monitors, phone systems, game consoles, stereos and radios, CDs and DVDs, cell phones, calculators, computer ink cartridges, and cords and wires. Additional fees of $45 to $75 will be charged for conventional televisions and cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors, depending on their size; and $20 for flat-screen televisions.

Being accepted in addition to electronics are washers and dryers, air conditioners, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, ranges and stoves, and microwaves. Other all-metal items also are accepted, but none that are plastic. Student volunteers will assist at each vehicle to help in removing items.
