Family Services’ Sanatoga Pinwheels A Silent Reminder

SANATOGA PA – They’re colorful. They’re pretty. When a breeze is blowing, they’re captivating to watch (above).

And for Family Services of Montgomery County, the pinwheels that appear this month (April 2022) on the lawn of its East High Street, Sanatoga, office provide the public with a visible reminder to be vigilant against child abuse.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“It recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families (by preventing) child abuse and neglect,” the federal Department of Health and Human Services says on its Child Welfare Information Gateway website. “Prevention services and supports” like those offered by Family Services “help protect children and produce thriving families,” it added.

Family Services, headquartered in Eagleville PA, provides support and reunification programming to families whose children are placed into care by county officials, and works with parents “to create a safe home environment to which their child can return.” It also offers transitional support “to assist families with the adjustment of their children returning home after being placed in foster care.”
