Rain Forced Race Cancellations Saturday at Grandview

BECHTELSVILLE PA – After a partly sunny Saturday (April 16, 2022), rain arrived at Grandview Speedway following completion of three T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman qualifying heat race events. Weather conditions forced the track’s management to postpone the remainder of the program to next Saturday (April 23), starting at 6 p.m.

A large turnout of race cars arrived at the speedway for Saturday night’s triple-header program, setting up a busy evening cut short by the downpour. It was to include the first point race of the new season in the chase for the track and NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series championships. After a wait the decision was made to end the program, as rain was expected to continue over several hours.

A total of 37 NASCAR Modifieds, 36 NASCAR Sportsman and 25 602 crate Sportsman filled the pit area. The three qualifying heats that were run will stand, and were won by Ryan Graver, Colton Perry, and Jesse Landis. Fifteen drivers are already qualified for the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman feature next week.

All grandstand tickets and pit wristbands from April 16 are valid as rain checks for April 23, the track announced. Remaining events on the April 16 program will be carried over and completed next week.

Because three T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman heats were completed, show will resume with the fourth heat, plus four qualifying heats for the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds, and three heats for the 602 crate Sportsman. Consolations will then be run, leading to the 30-lap Modified feature and the two 25-lap Sportsman main events. The Outlaw Racing Series Vintage race planned for April 23 will be dropped from the schedule.

It will also be Checkered Flag Fan Club Night at the speedway. Representatives will be on hand to sign up new members or renew memberships for the new season.

Pit gates open Saturday at 3 p.m.; grandstand gates at 4 p.m.; and race time is 6 p.m. For those who were not there, grandstand admission for adults is $20. Those age 11 and younger are admitted free.
