Boone Homestead Hosts 5K, 10K Runs Sunday on Its Grounds

BIRDSBORO PA – Pennsylvania’s historic Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Rd., will host the “Daniel Boone Trails of History Run” on Sunday (May 22, 2022) beginning at 9 a.m. from the DeTurk House located just inside the main gates of the grounds. Registration for the event – which consists of separate 5K and 10K runs, and a half-mile fun run-and-walk – opens at 7:30 a.m.

The 5K race includes 2 miles on macadam and 1 mile on grass; the 10K race, 4 miles on macadam and 2 miles on grass. A water stop is part of the route, and refreshments are available at the end of the race, also at the DeTurk House. The half-miler for all ages around the historic area starts at the homestead craft shed at 10:15 a.m.

Race winners will receive awards. Special awards also will be presented for best-dressed entrants displaying the era of the 1770s. For information on advance registration and costs, see the homestead website, here, or the website of Pretzel City Sports, here.
