HS Chorus Performs ‘Can You Hear,’ About Valuing Humanity

UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – “Can You Hear,” a mixed-chorus piece composed by Jim Papoulis and arranged by Francisco Nunez, was performed Wednesday night (May 18, 2022) in the Pottsgrove Middle School auditorium on North Hanover Street as one of several songs offered by the Pottsgrove High School Concert Choir during its traditional spring concert.

The night’s accompanying program stated the piece “is about listening to each other and valuing each other’s humanity.” The composer and arranger “worked together to create this call to collaboration and empathy,” it added.

Several high school soloists, performing to the right of the stage but not included within the camera frame, were featured in portions of the piece conducted by chorus director Sarah Fritshaffer. Hannah Marsteller and Moyo Akoma provided accompaniment on piano and percussion, respectively.

The high school music department has scheduled its year-end banquet for May 25, the program noted.
