Celebrity Gardener Visits Althouse Arboretum’s First Friday

UPPER POTTSGROVE PA – Nationally syndicated radio and television gardening celebrity Mike McGrath, whose “You Bet Your Garden” is broadcast Saturday mornings on Lehigh Valley public television Channel 39, will be the featured guest Friday (June 3, 2022) from 5-7 p.m. during the First Friday dinner and activities at Althouse Arboretum, 1794 Gilbertsville Rd.

McGrath, former editor-in-chief of Organic Gardening magazine, will be available to meet and talk with visitors in person, and dispense gardening tips with both expertise and a little humor. “Bring your questions,” the arboretum encouraged guests. The program is free to attend and open to the public, arboretum Development Coordinator Donna Howard Wethey reports.

Other activities are planned too. They include fun for children, a marshmallow roast, the chance to visit the arboretum gardens. Its plant and EcoStore also will be open for shopping. The student-operated EcoStore is stocked with fair trade, recycled, reused, and local crafter items.
