LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Residential and commercial electrical service was disrupted for up to an hour Tuesday (May 31, 2022) and then restored across portions of Lower, Upper Pottsgrove, and New Hanover townships, utility companies reported, following an 11:21 a.m. crash by a truck into a utility pole (top) at the west side of the 2100 block of North Charlotte Street, between North Keim Street and Bleim Road.

The truck’s driver and sole occupant was not injured.

The utility pole hit by the truck laid across both lanes of North Charlotte. It also dragged down wires and an adjacent pole, and a home owner near the collision site said wires there for a time were sparking against adjacent trees. It stopped when utility crews shut off local power and began repair work.

Fire police redirected traffic for a lengthy period (above), with vehicles southbound on Charlotte being detoured on Bleim or Mock roads, and those northbound detoured on North Keim or Orlando roads. Lower and Upper Pottsgrove police units, and Ringing Hill and New Hanover Fire and Rescue volunteers and equipment arrived in response.

Police were continuing their investigation. A cause of the crash has not yet been made available.

Police said that although the truck driver managed to move his vehicle from the crash site to a lot at the corner of North Charlotte and North Keim – home to JT’s Wheel and Deals Auto Sales, and Brennan Automotive Repair – its frame was heavily damaged and the truck (at right) would be towed.
