Troopers Cite Royersford Man After 422 West Accident

LIMERICK PA – A 53-year-old Shillington woman was injured, and a 57-year-old Royersford man received a traffic citation from Pennsylvania State Police at the Troop K Barracks, following a two-vehicle accident Thursday (June 9, 2022) at 8:29 a.m. on westbound U.S. Route 422 near mile-marker 178.3 in Limerick Township, they reported.

Troopers said the woman, driving a 2019-model Nissan Sentra, had slowed down in the right lane of traffic in response to an earlier crash. The Royersford man, in a 2016-model Acura RDX, “failed to notice” the Sentra’s decrease in speed and struck the rear of the woman’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, troopers noted.

The woman, who reported having neck pain, was transported by Friendship Ambulance of Royersford to Pottstown Hospital, according to their report. Both drivers were said to have worn lap and shoulder safety restraints.

The Royersford driver was ticketed for following too closely, it added.
