LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – No injuries were reported Thursday (June 16, 2022) following a two-car collision that occurred at about 3:52 p.m. in the 1500 block of Industrial Highway, near the entrance to Pottstown Kindercare daycare and pre-school center, Lower Pottsgrove police said.

Police said a woman driving a gray-colored Nissan Pathfinder sports utility vehicle (at right) was stopped in the westbound lane of Industrial Highway, waiting to turn south onto the driveway to the daycare building.

Behind her the driver of a dark gray Toyota Camry XLE (at top), also westbound, failed to see the Nissan had stopped and struck it at the rear, police reported. The Toyota front end received heavy damage, and its airbags deployed. The Nissan rear end and right rear side endured less damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No traffic citations were issued, officers added.

The accident occurred at a time when several parents and other adults in vehicles were scheduled to pick up children from the daycare center. Because both lanes of Industrial Highway were temporarily blocked with the accident and first responder vehicles, through-traffic was detoured around the area.

However, fire police formed a line of the daycare-bound vehicles on Industrial Highway’s eastbound lane (above). Those drivers waited patiently, and fire police began to slowly allow them access to retrieve their young passengers.

Responding to the scene were Ringing Hill and Sanatoga fire companies and fire police units, Goodwill Ambulance, two Lower Pottsgrove police patrols, and Hawk’s Towing of Gilbertsville.
