Boyertown Imaging Center Wins Radiology Accreditation

BOYERTOWN PA – The Diagnostic Imaging Center operated by Pottstown Hospital at 23 N. Walnut St. recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology for mammography and lung cancer screening, the hospital announced Tuesday (June 21, 2022).

Accreditation demonstrates the center is “committed to providing the safest and highest quality of care possible,” hospital Imaging Department Director Susan DeSanto, AS, RT, said. It also confirms the center’s intent to use newest techniques and lowest possible radiation doses to obtain the best quality images and assist in clinical diagnoses and treatments, she added.

To earn the college’s highest accreditation, its goal seal, the Boyertown facility and its staff participated in a “vigorous review process to ensure it meets nationally accepted standards of care,” the hospital stated.

Board-certified physicians and medical physicists, experts in the fields, also took the center through a peer-review evaluation. It assessed the center’s image quality, personnel qualifications, equipment requirements, quality control procedures, quality assurance, and efforts in continuous improvement.
