Tower Names Derderian Associate Chief Medical Officer

WEST READING PA – Dr. John Derderian DO, FHM, has been named as senior vice president and associate chief medical officer for Tower Health, the health care system reported Monday (June 20, 2022). He will serve as a liaison between administration and medical staff to improve clinical quality, safety, and financial results, it added.

Additionally, Derderian will collaborate with Tower Health’s chief medical, nursing, and quality officers to ensure clinical processes align with organizational goals for care quality and efficiency. He also will continue to serve as the physician leader for hospitalist services across the system, including its hospitals in Pottstown and Phoenixville.

Derderian entered private practice in the early days of hospital medicine, working at Lancaster General Hospital and Lancaster Regional Medical Center before joining Tower Health in 2012. He earlier served as medical director for the observation unit before becoming chief of the division of hospitalist medicine in the Department of Medicine at Reading Hospital; and vice president of Tower Health’s inpatient medicine and transition of care services.

Derderian earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Ursinus College, attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital during 2003.
