Greenways Hosts Free Movie, Garden Revival
POTTSTOWN PA – The weekend of July 22-23 (2022; Friday and Saturday) will be busy along the Schuylkill River in Pottstown, as the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area schedules the presentation of a free movie and the public effort to revive its pollinator garden.
Watch a Free Movie
An outdoor movie night, free and open to the public, is featured Friday (July 22) beginning at 8:30 p.m. in Pottstown’s Riverfront Park, College Drive. The Disney film, “The Parent Trap,” will be screened, accompanied by popcorn that’s also free. It’s a bring-your-own-seating event, so come equipped with lawn chairs or ground blankets to ensure your comfort.
Revive the Pollinator Garden
Volunteers of all ages are being sought for Saturday (July 23) between 10 a.m. and noon at the pollinator garden located next to the large pavilion also found in Riverfront Park.
The Greenways organization website reports it hopes to add “life back to the pollinator garden by planting some native species of wildflower, as well as a few flowering understory species into the prepped garden space.” Equipment will be supplied, but those who have additional special equipment if needed for personal use, are encouraged to bring it at their discretion.
The garden restoration is held outdoors, and is family-friendly, according to the website. “In case of heavy rain,” it added, “the following Saturday (July 30) at the same times will be used as a make up day.”
