New Residents, Fellows Join Phoenixville Hospital Staff

WEST READING PA – Tower Health is adding 162 residents and fellows to four of its hospitals, including Phoenixville Hospital, and is continuing approved residency and fellowship training programs in five hospitals, including Pottstown Hospital, it said Tuesday (July 19, 2022).

The new residents and fellows were expected to arrive in June for orientation, it added, and were scheduled to officially begin trainings on July 1 or Aug. 1.

At Phoenixville Hospital, eight trainees were scheduled to join psychiatry, three in podiatry, and two in child and adolescent psychology. Phoenixville is already working with trainees in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and podiatry, Tower Health reported.

Other new trainees were assigned to Reading and Chestnut Hill hospitals, and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, it said.

At Pottstown Hospital, it also noted, trainees are continuing work in emergency medicine.

“I am very happy for this tremendous accomplishment that reflects the quality of medical education throughout Tower Health,” Tower Health President and CEO P. Sue Perrotty said. “We have successfully filled every available residency and fellowship position with highly skilled professionals … I look forward to watching our future physicians hone their skills at our hospitals.”
