Collegeville Tax Strategy Firm Names General Counsel

COLLEGEVILLE PA – 1031 Corp., a Collegeville-based company that specializes in assisting clients with real estate tax strategies known as 1031 exchanges, said Monday (July 25, 2022) it had appointed Jordan Born, J.D., LL.M, as its general counsel and as president of a sister company, Reverse 1031 Corp. Both are located at 100 Springhouse Dr., Ste. 203, in the Providence Corporate Center.

Exchanges are named for Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue code. Under certain circumstances they allow “the deferral of gain on the sale and purchase of property held for use in a trade or business, or for investment,” according to its website.

Born will “oversee all reverse and improvement exchange transactions by facilitated by Reverse 1031 Corp. for clients of 1031 Corp., as well as other qualified intermediaries,” the announcement said. His expertise will guide “investors and their independent tax and legal professionals through complex reverse and improvement exchange transactions,” it added.

Born’s experience includes years as a real estate attorney in private practice, as well as national commercial counsel for a large national title insurance company. He serves on the board of directors of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators, a national trade association, and its ethics, government affairs, and education committees.

He is an active member of both the Chicago and Illinois State bar associations, and legal and real estate organizations within Illinois. Born previously served as a board designate and committees’ member of the Jewish Council for Youth Services in Chicago.
