Area Non-Profits Share in PPL Foundation Grants
ALLENTOWN PA – Five non-profit organizations that serve western Montgomery, eastern Berks, and northern Chester counties were named among 97 recipients of sustaining grants totaling $450,000, reported Thursday (July 28, 2022) by PPL Foundation, the Allentown-based charitable arm of regional energy producer PPL Corporation.
Among grant winners were the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania Inc., Greater Philadelphia YMCA, National Audubon Society, and Natural Lands Trust Inc.
The foundation announcement did not identify specific grant amounts or their intended uses, but said the money was targeted “to strengthening communities through innovative approaches that address critical social challenges.” Generally, the foundation added, it supported “programs ranging from STEM summer camps and student learning centers, to initiatives that address food insecurity and organizations that promote revitalization, sustainability and equity.”
Applications for a new round of foundation grants were being accepted as of Monday (Aug. 1) through Sept. 15. The foundation said more information on them is available, here.
