PHILADELPHIA PA – Where can you go today (Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022) to get and stay cool, particularly if you’re elderly?
The first choice is stay in your home, in a room that’s air conditioned. Not available? Check to see if you can avoid the day’s predicted 101-degree heat by staying with a family member, friend, or neighbor.
Not possible? Other choices exist.
Nearby public cooling centers designated by Montgomery County are reported to include the:
- TriCounty Active Adult Center, 288 Moser Rd., Pottstown;
- The Open Link, 517 Jefferson St., East Greenville; and
- Encore Experiences, 312 Alumni Ave., Harleysville
Most Chester County libraries function as designated public cooling centers, according to the state 2-1-1 website operated by the United Way of Pennsylvania. They include the:
- Spring City Library, 245 Broad St., Spring City;
- Phoenixville Public Library, 183 Second Ave., Phoenixville; and
- The Henrietta Hankin Branch Library, 215 Windgate Dr., Ludwig Corners.
