County Offers Free Career Training in September

NORRISTOWN PA – If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming knowledgeable in digital marketing or technical support, the Montgomery County Commerce Department and MontcoWorks, the county workforce development unit, are jointly offering free training courses in both fields, beginning in September.

NuPaths, a county training partner, will conduct the classes for both of what it describes as “in-demand technology occupations.” Participants will spend about three months learning how to provide services as an entry-level technical support specialist, or digital marketing assistant.

Technical support specialists troubleshoot software, fix operating system issues, rebuild computers, and perform general maintenance on computer devices. Digital marketing assistants work closely with a marketing team to implement online marketing plans and strategies.

Both training programs are offered for free and last for three months, from Sept. 7 (2022) through Dec. 23. Classes will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, 2 W. Lafayette St. To learn more about the programs or to register, call 610-270-3429 or see the county’s PA CareerLink website, here.

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 2.or until all seats are filled.

Job availabilities in both fields “are projected to outgrow the workforce over the next 10 years, leaving high-paying jobs unfilled by Montgomery County career seekers,” MontcoWorks Executive Director said.

Participants can earn up to eight college credits, and up to six industry certificates from Adobe, Google, and Microsoft. Those who enroll must have a high school diploma or a general educational development certificate. No technology experience or training is required. The program is geared toward youths and young adults, the county stated.
