Driver Safe in Storm-Related Route 23 Tree Fall

WARWICK PA – A 59-year-old Elverson man escaped serious injury and emerged with only “minor scratches” from a single-vehicle crash in the 2200 block of Ridge Road east of Trythall Road in Warwick Township, Pennsylvania State Police from the Troop J Barracks in Embreeville reported Monday (Aug. 15, 2022). The accident was attributed to effects of a severe wind and rain storm.

The man, who was the driver and sole occupant of a 2005-model Nissan Altima, was eastbound on Route 23 on Aug. 8 (Monday) at about 5:09 a.m. when “multiple large trees and debris entered the roadway, causing an obstruction,” troopers wrote. The car “collided with two large trees that blocked the entire roadway,” they added.

The crash caused the car’s airbags to deploy, their report stated, and also created “disabling damage to the front bumper, hood, engine compartment, and undercarriage.

Responding to the scene were two state police patrol units, volunteers of the Twin Valley Fire Company, Parke’s Towing, and workers from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Edison.

Troopers Allege Theft of $51 Casino Voucher

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – A voucher valued at $51 in game play inside the Valley Forge Casino Resort on First Avenue was stolen Aug. 5 (2022; Friday), sometime during an 8-minute period between 6:59 and 7:07 p.m., from a 64-year-old Lansdowne PA man who was its patron, according to Pennsylvania State Police from the Troop K Barracks in Skippack.

Troopers, on duty at the casino on behalf of the state Bureau of Gaming Enforcement, offered no other details about the theft. It asked anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them at the casino.
