Boyertown Library Names Stout as Executive Director

BOYERTOWN PA – Denise Pulgino Stout, who only a year ago joined the Boyertown Community Library (at top) as its youth services librarian, has been promoted to library executive director, its Board of Trustees said Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2022).

Stout “was an unexpected treasure” when she began working at the library during 2021, board President Charles Wohl said. “We are excited” to have her working with our board to further enhance the relevance of the Boyertown Community Library with our many communities,” he added, praising her “work with children and youth, coupled with her vision and her leadership.”

She was selected from among what the board described as applications from a wide array of qualified candidates. Former 12-year Executive Director Susan Lopez resigned from the position in March.

Stout brings what the board called “a wealth of library and programming experience to her new responsibilities,” with knowledge of children’s theater and expertise at presenting programs that are “entertaining, educational, and based on literacy skills.”

She received her master’s degree in library science from Clarion University, has been involved in the Pennsylvania Library Association, and participated on several state-wide committees.
