Constellation Team Invites, Honors Pottstown Grad
GIVEN THE GRAND TOUR – Nada Elgendy (at top and below), a 2022 Pottstown High School graduate who will attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in mechanical engineering, was the recent guest of honor at the Limerick Generating Station of Constellation Energy. Elgendy won a four-year grant from Constellation’s STEM Scholarship program to achieve her dream of becoming an engineer. Generating station officials invited her, Pottstown High engineering teacher Andy Bachman, administrator Terri Baller, and career coach Susan Pritt for a tour of the facility, which included a simulation of a power plant incident. The visitors watched the Limerick team “go straight-faced and just execute emergency protocols with such professionalism and precision,” she said later. The university is familiar to Elgendy: while attending Pottstown High at age 16, she completed her first college class – Advanced College Prep Calculus – under its accreditation. Bachman called her “an extremely competent engineer-in-training,” who even used independent study time to learn welding fundamentals.
