Local Players Part of Kutztown’s Saturday Opener

WORCESTER MA – Kutztown University football players from Hereford, Birdsboro, and Barto won credit Saturday (Sept. 3, 2022) in the Golden Bears’ season-opener against the Assumption University Greyhounds, although Kutztown went scoreless in the 3-0 contest. Its defensive effort kept Assumption out of the end zone and allowed “just 208 yards of total offense,” the Kutztown athletics office reported.

Among local athletes participating:

  • Tyler Whary of Hereford, an Upper Perkiomen graduate, had five tackles;
  • Freshman Nathan Millard of Birdsboro, a Daniel Boone product. kicked a 42-yard punt from his own end zone to end Kutztown’s first drive of the day in what the report described as “relentless pressure from the home team;” and
  • Jerome Kapp of Barto, out of Boyertown, pulled in four passes for 41 yards.

Separately, Kutztown also announced junior Gavin Euker, of Collegeville and Perkiomen Valley, was part of the team’s offensive line.
