Troopers Investigate Alleged Thefts at Casino

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Pennsylvania State Police stopped an alleged thief from making off with the wallet of a patron at the Valley Forge Casino Resort on First Avenue, the agency reported Wednesday (Sept. 14, 2022).

Troopers from the Troop K Barracks at Skippack, working at the casino on behalf of the state Bureau of Gaming Enforcement, said they arrested a 36-year-old Philadelphia man on Sept. 3 (Saturday) at 11:28 p.m. for theft and potentially other “charges to be filed in the appropriate district court” regarding an incident that occurred the same day.

Troopers said the victim, a 37-year-old Lester PA woman, “left her purse on a chair in the casino.” They reported the Philadelphia man later came up “and took the wallet and its contents.” The wallet was a brown-colored Gucci model, valued at $200; within it was $400 in cash, troopers added.

The Philadelphia man “was discovered still on the premises” after troopers were alerted to the theft, “and was taken into custody.” He has since been released as charges are awaited, they said. “The items were retrieved and returned to the victim,” they stated.

Theft between employees

Also Wednesday, troopers reported they were investigating an alleged “theft between employees” that was said to have occurred Aug. 15 (Monday) at 12:01 a.m. on the casino premises. The victim was identified as a 27-year-old Philadelphia woman. Troopers said they also have identified a potential suspect.
