POTTSTOWN PA – The Pottstown High School Trojan Shop, an emporium of products for the school’s students that now includes air-fried foods, held its grand opening Wednesday (Sept. 14, 2022) under the supervision of teacher and DECA advisor Ronald Davenport, and thanks to tireless efforts of the organization’s marketing- and business-savvy members. The event “was a huge success,” school officials reported.

Pottstown’s DECA chapter is part of a nationally recognized club intended to help students work on and complete creative, and highly competitive, marketing campaigns. Students who are studying marketing in the high school’s career technical education program relied on collaboration, the advice of fellow students, and Davenport’s guidance to create and execute a marketing plan for the grand opening.

They acquired real-life skills by devising and putting those plans into action, officials noted. “Students used research to develop a product mix, and utilized different advertising and promotional strategies to communicate the opening” to its school consumer audience.

Now the store is open to students and staff before, and after, school hours. The marketers’ research also prompted the students, after a vote, to invest in an air fryer “to increase (its) selection of items to include hot foods.”

“Come visit us,” Davenport urged students and staff members. “We cannot wait to serve the PSD community throughout the school year!” All profits earned at the student store directly benefit the chapter, and will cover the cost of its trips and competitions throughout the year.
