‘Grove Names Matz as Special Education Supervisor

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Sarah Matz, an educator of 12 years’ experience working with special education students in kindergarten through sixth grades, has been hired by the Pottsgrove School District as its new supervisor of special education for grades K-5, it announced Tuesday (Sept. 27, 2022). She is expected to start work during October.

Matz joins Pottsgrove from the Boyertown Area School District, where she served as a learning support teacher in English language arts and math for grades 2-5 at three elementary schools. Before Boyertown, Matz worked as a learning support teacher at the Governor Mifflin School District for five years, teaching students in grades K-6; and in the Reading School District for three years, teaching students in grades K-5.

She attended Kutztown University, where she earned her bachelor of science degree in special education and elementary education. Matz earned her master’s degree in education, with a reading specialist certification, at Wilkes University. Most recently she received a special education supervisor certification from Slippery Rock University.

Her appointment was approved during the Aug. 23 meeting of the Pottsgrove Board of School Directors, with a starting salary of $91,000.
